Qu Dongyu, male, Han nationality, is a native of Yongzhou City, Hunan Province. He was born in 1963, graduated from Hunan Agricultural College in 1983 with a Bachelor Degree, from graduate school of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science with a Master Degree, a Doctorate Degree from Holland in 1996, and joined the CPC in 1986. Since 2001 until May 2011, he was Vice President of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science. From 2011 to 2015 he was Vice-Chairman of Autonomous Region People's Government, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. In 2015 he became Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture. In 2019 he was elected Director of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
